Douglas Gregory is an expert in Open Architecture (OA) strategy development and management, principally in U.S. Department of Defense tactical systems, including avionics systems and robotic/autonomous systems.
His company experience includes the positions of Consultant Engineer at GEC Avionics, Technology Manager at General Dynamics UK, and Distinguished Member of Technical Staff (a director level position) at General Dynamics Mission Systems. He provided OA management services and consultancy to the U.S. DoD via Neya Systems (Applied Research Associates).
He has considerable experience of leading national and international OA standards groups, including chairing the SAE Aerospace Avionics Systems Division (ASD), its Aircraft Systems and System Integration Committee (AS-1), and currently its Unmanned Systems Control Segment Committee (AS-4UCS). He had led multiple ad hoc subgroups of the NATO Industrial Advisory Group (NIAG) and chaired the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Unmanned Aircraft System Control Segment (UCS) Working Group from its inception in 2009 to its completion in 2015.
