The SAE UCS Architecture (original) comprises four aerospace standards (AS) and seven aerospace information reports (AIR). UCS conformance is determined by the standards; the information reports provide additional resources.
Standards
The UCS Architecture is formally defined by AS6512™ Architecture Description. The document identifies the scope of the standard, its purpose, the referenced documents that comprise the official UCS Architecture, and their relationships. The UCS Architecture is known as AS6512™.
The most important document is AS6518™ Architecture Model. This is the authoritative UML model expressed as an Enterprise Architect Project (.eap) file.
The policies for the development and extension of AS6518™ are specified in AS6522™ Architecture Technical Governance. This document is critical for users that need to extend AS6518™.
The formal conformance requirements for the UCS Architecture are defined in AS6513™ Conformance Specification.
Information Reports
The need to obtain the information reports will depend on the project’s requirements. The normative elements of the AS6518™ Architecture Model are published as a document-based AIR6514 Interface Control Document (ICD). The content of the AIR6514™ is also published in three model formats:
- AIR6515™ EA Version of UCS ICD Model (for Enterprise Architect users)
- AIR6516™ RSA Version of UCS ICD Model (for Rational System Architect users)
- AIR6517™ Rhapsody Version of the UCS ICD Model (for Rhapsody users)
For users needing to compare document revisions, AIR6520™ Version Description Document is available. As the UCS Architecture (original) is a republication of the OSD UCS Architecture R3.4(PR), this VDD is less informative than prior publications under OSD.
AIR6519™ is available for users needing to trace specific UCS services to the contextual UCS system use cases.
Finally, AIR6521™ Data Distribution Service (DDS) is an example DDS implementation of the PIM-level ICD. This is useful for users that are implementing UCS with DDS middleware but are not autogenerating DDS code using tools.
